It’s the time of year when consumers are getting on with Spring cleaning and thoughts of ‘out with the old, in with the new’ means they’re looking to create exciting new looks for the interior of their homes.
Retailers can maximise on this by introducing trends in home accessories and styling that can really capture householders’ imaginations.
Three current trends to look out for:
Homeowners are being inspired by travel to far flung destinations, such as India, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The trend is towards symbols of calm, with praying Buddhas, as well as tigers, elephants and monkeys as ornaments or tealight holders. The Antique gold theme reigns supreme and is available within our range for lanterns, trinket boxes and photo frames, offering retailers the opportunity to stock a full range of complementary Eastern-themed gifts and homewares. Not forgetting also how these can be enhanced with candles and reed diffusers from our Destinations range, with complementary fragrances including Thai Flower market and Kashmir Pear & Fig.
Domestic pets are seeing a resurgence at the moment with 26 per cent of people owning a dog and 18 per cent a cat. We’re helping retailers to maximise on the trend towards miniature animals in the home, by releasing a range of white ceramic dogs, cats and swans with distinctive gold crowns, which make great gifts and ornaments. Also continuing the theme for white ceramics, we have released a range of authentic succulents for the home. Attractively displayed in white pots, these artificial plants enable householders to enhance their home with plants that appear to be living yet require minimal care and attention. Unconventional, quirky designs include a ceramic pig and an elephant as pots with succulents, as well as grey, black and white pots on attractive metal stands.
The trend towards copper and rose gold accessories and ornaments goes from strength to strength. In our latest collection, we have revealed contemporary storage racks, trays and bins in popular Rose Gold. Attracting lots of interest are the copper globes, in two different sizes, plus rose gold metal lanterns with LED bulbs. Also great for adding that eclectic look to the home are copper pots with succulents and an attractive mouse trinket dish in rose gold.
Candlelight Sales Director Debbie Isles enthuses: “Consumers recognise that they can update the whole feel of a house, simply by adding the right accessories. The trend towards rose gold and copper is really strong, but we’ve also managed to capture a number of fun elements into this year’s range, such as animal ornaments and succulents. Travel still dominates as a theme for home styling and here retailers are capitalising on our Eastern Promise range. All in all, we’ve got everything that retailers need to inspire their customers with home styling accessories – take a look at our collections.
