The Spring Fair – how was it for you?

By 7th February 2019 March 7th, 2019 No Comments

Here, our Sales Director Debbie Isles, gives her thoughts on this year’s Spring Fair held at the NEC (3-7 February).

“So it’s all over for another year… Myself and our team of account managers have spent five wonderful, but tiring days on our feet and now that’s the Spring Fair finished for 2019….and what a show it has been!

One of the most satisfying memories to take away from the exhibition is the feedback that we’ve had from the many retailers who have visited our stand.  Mind you, we had a much larger stand this year, which reflected our greatly extended ‘own brand’ collection, with particular interest in our Lips & Kisses, Eastern Promise, Rustic Retreat and Golden Glam ranges.

The first day, Sunday, was probably the busiest and time passed really quickly as myself and the team met with a number of independent retailers and talked them through the collection.  The following three days were also busy with many potential new retailers visiting the stand.  The final day was  less hectic and gave me a bit of a chance to reflect on the success of the show and also to take a look around at some of the other stands and what they had to offer.  There were some really exciting trends to see – many of which are reflected in our own collection:  Metallics, antique gold, succulents, oversize tropical plants, natural hessian and wicker, pastel and coral colours…also some really interesting gifts and homewares for Christmas.

The Spring Fair was a great platform to give retailers a taster of our new housewares collection.  This includes attractive contemporary crockery in navy and white, complemented by hessian mats, baskets, hampers and accessories.  We had some great feedback to this and are looking forward to launching our full range at Exclusively Housewares in June.

It was great to see that the Spring Fair is continuing its dominance as the UK’s number one home and gift show for retail industry.  For us, it was a great place to unveil our new collection and to meet existing and new customers.  I personally love these shows and, although your feet take a hammering for a few days, it really is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the very best of what we have to offer.

For us, the Spring Fair is an opportunity to showcase to retailers the very latest trends in candles, homewares and gifts.  Our aim is always to inspire customers and creating wonderful gift buying experiences – this is why we design the packaging alongside the gift.

Our own brand collection is featured in our Spring 2019 brochure, which was also revealed at the show.

But there’s no rest for the Candlelight team yet…! If you didn’t make it onto our stand at the Spring Fair, there’s still chance to see our brand new ranges. From Mid March we’ll be hosting our Open Weeks in our showroom in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.  For four weeks, we invite all retailers from across the country to visit and take a look at our new collection and speak to our account managers about their requirements for the year ahead – it really is an unmissable opportunity if you’re looking to grow sales of candles and gifts.  We look forward to welcoming as many retailers as possible, please watch out for the dates on our website!

So that’s it for this year and we look forward to seeing you again at Exclusively Housewares 11-12 June at the Business Design Centre in London.  We will also be back at the Autumn Fair 1-4 September at the NEC.

To register to attend our open weeks during March/April please call 01709 723 000.
